The fire department no longer fills pools.  The water we use is provided by the Town of Tappahannock, and this pulls on the capacity available for the town.

The fire department does not replace smoke detector batteries or install smoke alarms.  We suggest contacting a local electrician for assistance.

Most residential fire extinguishers are CO2 which can be filled at a local fire equipment store or a local home improvement store.  We recommend calling ahead to inquire.

Tappahannock-Essex Volunteer Fire Department can conduct a "courtesy walkthrough", and offer advise for best practices for general fire safety.  We do not currently hold 1031 Fire Inspector certification.  If you need an actual "Fire Inspection", we recommend contacting the State Fire Marshall at the link below, or work through your local building official.

What is the minimum age to volunteer?

The minimum age to volunteer is 18, however, we offer a Junior Membership Program for anyone 16 - 18.  The application can be found on our VOLUNTEER page.
